Search and recovery efforts continue this weekend near Dillon Falls after a tragic river incident earlier this month involving a group of floaters. To support those efforts, water flows in the Deschutes River will be temporarily reduced from Friday, August 1 — Monday, August 4. These lower flows will allow swiftwater rescue teams to safely access areas that were previously too dangerous to reach. ⚠️ The Deschutes Basin Board of Control advises that river-goers should expect reduced flows and lower water levels through Monday. Impacts to in-town recreation are likely to be minimal, but conditions may look or feel different on the water. 🛟 If you’re heading out on the river or lakes: • Familiarize yourself with your route and know your take-out point • Wear a properly fitted life jacket • Choose a sturdy tube (not a pool float) • Always float sober • Check the weather—conditions can change quickly, especially this weekend • Secure your footwear and bring sunscreen
