When is the best time to visit Bend by RV?

Central Oregon is an RV lover’s paradise year-round, but the prime season runs from late May through September. During these months, you’ll enjoy warm weather and endless trails for outdoor adventures. Remember that late summer can bring wildfires, so have a backup plan if the skies get smoky. Fall offers vibrant foliage, cooler nights, and fewer crowds, while early spring brings a mix of rain and blooming wildflowers. Winter means cozy, snowy days, perfect for hitting the slopes or sipping a warm beverage downtown.

Here are a few tips to make the most of your camping adventures in Central Oregon:

  • Pack for the weather: Central Oregon’s weather can be unpredictable. Bring warm layers and a rain jacket for cool summer nights and potential storms. Always check the forecast before you head out, and consider keeping a portable weather radio in your RV.
  • Stay fire safe: Wildfires are a serious concern. Always check fire restrictions before you go. Use designated fire rings only, and make sure your fire is completely extinguished before leaving your site. Or, skip the campfire altogether and enjoy the stunning Central Oregon night sky!
  • Be a responsible pet owner: Most RV parks welcome dogs, but please follow leash laws, pick up after your furry friend, and be respectful of other campers and wildlife.
  • Respect nature: Keep Central Oregon beautiful by packing out all trash, minimizing campsite impact, and practicing Bend’s Leave No Trace principles.
