An unusually strong solar storm is heading our way, creating a rare opportunity for us to see the aurora borealis dance across the night sky. 🌌✨ 👉 According to NOAA, this solar storm could produce an aurora borealis as far south as Northern California, meaning Bend is in prime viewing territory. So, if you want to witness this magical spectacle, grab a warm blanket, head away from any light pollution, and look towards the north in the night sky. The next couple of nights might just turn out to be an unforgettable experience under the stars.

Skyliner and Sunrise lots will be open for extra parking and lift access to the mountain May 2-5. The Interlodge Shuttle will run every 15 minutes until 8:00 PM during the event, serving all parking lots. ⛷️ Skiing and Riding Pre-purchase lift tickets online with rates starting at $64/day or grab a Mt. Bachelor Spring Pass. All scheduled lifts, including Sunrise, operate from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department has reopened the gate to the summit of Pilot Butte for the season. ⏰ The summit road gate will be open from 10 am – 9 pm daily! (Be sure to plan enough time to exit before the gate closes each night) ⚠️ Be cautious of other users! Drive slow and leave room for others—cyclists and pedestrians may be in the roadway or along the shoulder. 🚮 As always, be sure to follow the 7 principles of Leave No Trace as you recreate.
