Cultivating Partnerships: Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Science in Land Stewardship

Spend an evening with Dr. Cristina Eisenberg, Associate Dean for Inclusive Excellence and Maybelle Clark Macdonald Director of Tribal Initiatives in Natural Resources at Oregon State University, as part of Oregon Natural Desert Association’s 2024 High Desert Speaker Series. Dr. Eisenberg will share learnings from her research on ecocultural restoration and how she approaches land stewardship through a lens of Two-Eyed Seeing. This event will explore how a merging of Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Western Science can build cross-cultural partnerships and projects that conserve landscapes and elevate indigenous communities. ONDA’s Stewardship Director, Gena Goodman-Campbell, will delve into the current steps ONDA is taking to restore Oregon’s high desert in partnership with local tribes.

If you’re driving, please note that there will be very limited parking at West Village April 30-May 5. Skyliner and Sunrise lots will be open for extra parking and lift access to the mountain May 2-5. The Interlodge Shuttle will run every 15 minutes until 8:00 PM during the event, serving all parking lots. ⛷️ Skiing and Riding Pre-purchase lift tickets online with rates starting at $64/day or grab a Mt. Bachelor Spring Pass. All scheduled lifts, including Sunrise, operate from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM. Pine Marten will go until 7 PM on Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4. ❄️ Be Prepared for Winter Fun Bundle up for cold and snowy weather and pack for specific activities like morning yoga, dog parade, retro threads walk-off, and more.
